According to police, emergency responders were dispatched to Gospel Lane (Route 17) at approximately 5:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a collision. Garneau was reportedly traveling north on his motorcycle when he struck the side of an SUV that was turning left into Portland Golf West.
The impact caused Garneau to be ejected from the motorcycle. Police said he landed in the southbound lane of Route 17, where he was subsequently struck by a vehicle traveling south. Garneau suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. First responders transported him to Middlesex Hospital for emergency treatment before he was later flown by helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where medical teams continued efforts to treat his injuries.
